Today, I am starting this: The 10-day REAL Food Challenge! I am so excited to try this and see how much our lives and household will change without all that c-r-a-p in our bodies! I am really looking forward to a few things that I’m hoping it will improve.
1. My energy level. 2 babies = TIRED MAMA. Plus, breast feeding = EVEN MORE TIRED MAMA. Plus, newborn that will only sleep in my bed right next to my chest, using my body as his pacifier = EXHAUSTED MAMA. I could really use a pick-me-up right now!
2. Healthier life. I like being healthy. I like knowing that I am making good choices for my body and my family. I like knowing that (for the most part) I am doing all I can to make our home the healthiest home it can be. And if I can up the ante in any way, then I’m going to try!
3. Lose weight. I have lost 33 pounds since the day Maddex was born. I won’t tell you how much more I have to lose before I am back to my pre-baby weight, because I’m assuming you can add. And well, that’s just embarrassing. It wasn’t my proudest 10 months. My hubby could also benefit from this one. He was doing so great with his weight loss and exercising before Maddex was born. Since then, we have been lacking in the gym department.
4. Improve Judah’s behavior. I know firsthand what sugar can do to our behavior, as well as our concentration levels and our brain power. Lately, Judah’s behavior has been doing down and not up, and I’m not impressed. We are definitely not the family that allows our child to eat junk on a daily basis. We try to eat organic, buy ‘treats’ that are from whole foods or in the natural/organic family, and not really ‘treats’ at all. However, sugar is hard to get around and I’m wondering if eliminating that from his diet will help.
Here is what I have noticed so far. SUGAR IS IN EVERYTHING!!!! Wow, even the expensive, organic stuff has some form of sugar in it! I have spent a good part of the morning reading labels of stuff that is in my house (which I typically do in the stores anyway), but this diet is making virtually everything not edible. Wow! Here I thought I was being healthy all this time!
I am looking forward to going to the store tonight when Hubs gets home so I can purchase some REAL food and not live off of fruit and cheese like I have so far today.
I will be posting daily to keep a running of what I’m eating and how we are handling it!
P.S. The one rule I am not following on the website is the local meat. Currently, the only place I know of to get local meat is about 45 minutes to an hour away and it’s just not feasible with the boys this week. Maddex is currently sick (again! what the heck?!) and we have a busy week and a half coming up. I’m going to look and see what our Organic Delivery Service offers as far as local meat and maybe we can get some from them.
