Sometimes, I can taste it on my tongue. When I wake up, something is different. It’s the way my bedsheets feel in the evening. It’s the way the air smells when I step outside for the first time each day. It’s the way the rays shine through my open windows, casting a perfect glow on my beautiful family as we sit in the living room. It’s how even the sound of a noisy lawn mower can put me in a good mood. I was born for this.
This Florida girl was made for summer.
I spend the months of October through April hoping it’s summertime. Yes, I’m THAT person. I don’t like snow. I don’t like cold. I don’t like jackets. I don’t like wearing leggings with dresses. I don’t like putting gloves on just to walk from my parking spot to the grocery store door. I don’t like running outside in the morning and warming up my car. I don’t like close-toed shoes. I don’t like leaving 45 minutes early because it snowed last night. I also don’t like not leaving 45 minutes early, but then being late because it snowed last night. I don’t like bundling up my babies to go to the store. Babies were made to be naked. They’re just cuter that way. True story.
In order to celebrate my obnoxious excitement for the impending and absolutely delicious warm weather we are about to have – the only part of Michigan I actually enjoy – I have created a bucket list for this summer. Lame, Krista. Way to jump on another pinterest band wagon. You’re so original.
Psh. I don’t care. It’s almost summer. You could eat all my oreos, and I’d still be in a good mood.
But if you eat all my oreos, I’ll have to kill you.
Sixty Five! 65 incredibly fun-filled things to do with my cute little family this summer. I’m so excited for this summer especially, because Judah is finally at the age where we can enjoy doing things like this with him. I mean, of course I always enjoy doing things with him, but let’s face it. We love our kids with all our guts and bodily juices, but sometimes, they don’t make everything in life super..er…fun. Kids are hard sometimes! And if you’ve ever met mine (my friends call him Houdini), well, then there are times when things aren’t always 100% fun.
Don’t get me wrong – I have fun with my kid. Every day actually. I can be a pretty fun person. I’m not talking about having fun playing at home, or laughing in the car, or singing silly songs in the bathtub (although baths are not always a joy)…I’m talking about going out. In public. With other people.
Anyway, the point I’m getting to is that this summer we are really looking forward to doing fun things with him! New, never-done-before things like taking him to his first movie in the theatre, or going on an overnight trip (sans Dex) to Chicago…fun stuff like that!
We have already embarked on our summer fun the last couple weeks when we have had the pleasure of some warm weather. Like going to the park.
I am going to be taking pictures every time we do an activity on our bucket list, and I’m really hoping to hold myself accountable and post them all here. I want to remember every perfect summer memory with my perfect little family.
Happy Summer, Everyone! Now go outside and roll in some grass.
